Aiyo, hello everyone! You know or not, sometimes after a long day of work or taking care of the kids, the last thing we want to do is stand in the kitchen for two hours to cook a big meal. But we still want to eat something very delicious and comforting, right? Cannot always eat outside, very expensive and sometimes too oily! That’s why I always say, pasta is our best friend. It is so easy to make, and if you know the right sauce, it tastes just like those fancy Italian restaurants in the mall, but at home it is much cheaper and you can put more cheese if you want! Today I want to share with you two of my favorite creamy pasta recipes. These are so simple, even if you are not a pro in the kitchen, you can definitely do it. Your family will surely ask for more, don't say I didn't warn you ah!
Three Ingredient Tomato Cream Pasta Sauce - My Farmhouse Table
Can you believe it? Only three ingredients! This one is what I call the "lazy person's dream." Sometimes the kids are shouting they are hungry and you only have ten minutes. This sauce is so smooth and has that lovely orange color—very appetizing. It’s not too sour like plain tomato sauce because the cream makes it so mellow and nice. You don't need to chop a lot of things, just open and mix only. Very fast, very efficient!
Ingredients:
- 1 jar (24 oz) of your favorite Marinara or Tomato Pasta Sauce
- 1 cup of Heavy Cream (don't use milk ah, must use cream so it is thick!)
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan Cheese
- Optional: Some fresh basil or chili flakes if you like a bit of a kick.
Instructions:
- First, you go and boil your pasta in a big pot of salty water. Follow the packet instructions, usually about 8 to 10 minutes until it is "al dente"—that means still a bit firm to the bite, don't overcook until it's mushy!
- While the pasta is boiling, take a large saucepan and pour in the whole jar of tomato sauce. Turn on the fire to medium heat.
- Once the sauce starts to bubble a little bit, pour in the heavy cream. Wah, look at the color change, so pretty right? Stir it well until it is all combined.
- Add in the Parmesan cheese and keep stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is hot and thick.
- Drain your pasta (keep a little bit of the pasta water just in case) and toss the noodles directly into the sauce. If it's too thick, add a splash of that pasta water. Serve it hot!
Homemade Cream Pasta Sauce | Pasta Cream Sauce Recipe
Now, if you want something a bit more "atas" (fancy) and super rich, you must try this homemade white cream sauce. This one is like a Carbonara style, very velvety and full of flavor. Forget the bottled white sauce from the supermarket—those often taste like plastic. This fresh version is so much better. It’s perfect for Fettuccine because the wide noodles can soak up all that creamy goodness. My husband loves this one so much, he can eat two big plates!
Ingredients:
- 500g Fettuccine pasta
- 2 tablespoons of Butter (use the good quality one, smells better!)
- 3 cloves of Garlic, minced very finely
- 2 cups of Heavy Cream
- 1 cup of freshly grated Parmesan Cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: Chopped parsley or some crispy bacon bits on top for extra "oomph."
Instructions:
- Boil your Fettuccine in salted water until it is cooked perfectly. Don't forget to save a cup of that starchy pasta water before you drain it!
- In a large pan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and fry it until it smells very fragrant. Be careful ah, don't let the garlic burn or it will taste bitter.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream. Let it simmer gently for about 3 to 5 minutes. You will see it start to thicken up a bit.
- Turn the heat to low and whisk in the Parmesan cheese. Keep stirring until the sauce is smooth like silk. If it looks too thick, add a little bit of the pasta water you saved.
- Season with a bit of salt and plenty of black pepper. The pepper is very important to cut through the richness of the cream.
- Add your cooked pasta into the pan and toss everything together so every strand of noodle is coated in that beautiful white sauce. Serve immediately while it is still steaming hot. So yummy, I'm telling you!
See? So easy right? You don't need to be a chef to make restaurant-quality food at home. These two recipes are my "secret weapons" when I want to impress people but don't want to spend the whole day in the kitchen. Go try it tonight, your family will think you went for cooking class!
