Quick and Easy 20-Minute Homemade Marinara
Sometimes we are all in a big hurry, right? We come home from work, the kids are hungry, and we need something fast. This recipe is a miracle because it only takes twenty minutes. You don't need to peel the tomatoes if you don't want to—just use a good blender or chop them very fine. The secret here is using a little bit of good olive oil and plenty of garlic. Don't be shy with the garlic! It is so good for your heart and gives the sauce a beautiful kick. This one is perfect for a quick pasta night or even as a dipping sauce for some nice toasted bread.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of fresh, ripe Roma tomatoes (they must be very red!)
- 4 cloves of garlic, smashed and minced fine
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- A handful of fresh basil leaves, torn by hand
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- A tiny pinch of sugar (just to balance the sourness of the tomatoes)
Instructions
- First, wash your tomatoes very well. Cut them into small pieces. If you like a very smooth sauce, you can put them in the blender for just a few seconds.
- Take a large pan and put it over medium heat. Add your olive oil. Once it is warm, put in your garlic. Oh, the smell is so good already! Don't let the garlic burn, just let it get golden.
- Carefully pour in your tomatoes. Add your salt, pepper, and that little pinch of sugar.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds of assorted fresh tomatoes (mix them up for better flavor!)
- 1 small yellow onion, chopped very small
